10 Fun, romantic idea dates for couples

10 Fresh Houston Date Night Ideas | Houston Moms BlogNobie’s

I fell in love with Nobie’s during my first visit, and truth be told, before my dinner was over I was already planning my second visit – because it was all that good. Stepping into Nobie’s feels like you are walking into a really cool friend’s house complete with a drool-worth vinyl record collection and well-stocked bar. Check out the clever menu and cheeky puns, but don’t get too attached to anything on the menu because the chef keeps it fresh, sometimes changing weekly. Nobie’s doesn’t take reservations, but don’t worry – just have a few drinks at the bar and soak in the cool vibes while you wait. Menu Favorite :: Texas Tartare

Harold’s Restaurant, Bar & Terrace

Harold’s is just one more reason to head to the Houston Heights. The chef here has created a menu full of Creole and Southern favorites and is fully committed to sourcing locally, making the food in-house, as well as being as environmentally sustainable when possible. Dine inside where local art fills the restaurant walls or head out to the patio and soak in the atmosphere of 19th Street. Don’t forget to go downstairs for some wine on tap in Harold’s bar – The Tap Room.  Menu Favorite :: Gulf Shrimp ‘N’ Grits

Buffalo Bayou Park – The Cistern

The Cistern is a Houston treasure, and whether you grew up here or have recently relocated, a date night is the perfect opportunity to visit. The underground relic which is the size of 1.5 football fields and features 221 concrete columns was a drinking water reservoir built in 1926 for the City of Houston. It has been completely restored, and now you can visit for a 30 minute docent led tour. Get there before June while the inaugural art installation Rain: Magdalena Fernández is still playing. The way the light bounces off the water on the floor and the sound echoes in the large concrete structure makes walking underground in the Cistern while listening to Rain an almost mystical, romantic experience. Insider Tip :: The last docent tour is at 6:30pm, but BBP Cistern is centrally located near many of Houston’s best restaurants. Start your date night there and then head out for a night on the town.

The Four Season’s Bayou & Bottle and Topgolf Swing Suite

Bayou & Bottle not only boasts the longest bar in Houston and fantastic food by celebrity chef Richard Sandoval, but also the first Topgolf Swing Suite. Yes, friends, you can now have an upscale meal and have a Topgolf experience all in one night. If your husband is a golfer, this is a perfect fresh date night idea. The restaurant and bar are beautifully decorated, and the menu is full of classic favorites that pair nicely with the signature cocktails or bourbon menu. Menu Favorite :: Lobster Tacos and Flora & Fauna Cocktail

Trellis Spa at the Houstonian

Houstonian’s Trellis Spa has so much to offer for a new date night idea. Book the couples massage room for a long massage, but don’t let your sitter leave early! Take advantage of everything from the hot tubs, co-ed heated indoor pool, and tranquility room to food and wine on the outdoor patio. Wine, snacks, and a super soft robe sound like heaven on any day, but add your spouse – and you have the perfect relaxing date. Favorite :: Trellis Spa is known for their tasty shortbread cookies; grab some cookies and fruit infused water while you relax.

Rouge Wine Bar

Rouge Wine Bar, along with Le Mistral Restaurant and Foody’s Gourmet, make up the trio of French-inspired eateries in the “French Corridor” in West Houston. Rouge’s striking paint colors and beautiful chandeliers set the backdrop for a perfect romantic date. There is an area to lounge in along with traditional seating and an outdoor patio. The breads, pastries, and pizzas are made in-house, and the charcuterie boards and wine selection are great for munching and sipping while you and yours connect. Ask for a pairing to go along with your order or even just your mood. Menu Favorite :: Farmer’s Pizza

State of Grace

Visit State of Grace to take your date night food and atmosphere to a new level. Get dressed up friends, because you’ll want to see and be seen at this River Oaks restaurant. Take note of the décor, color scheme, and everything from the stamped concrete floor and place settings to the server’s uniforms. The menu is a fusion of Southern Texas and seafood favorites, and you can explore it by sharing a dish from every course. And don’t worry if you aren’t up for a fancy night. If you want a more casual date, just ask for a reservation at the Oyster Bar.  Menu Favorite :: Blue Crab Fingers and/or Brussels Sprouts

Radio Milano

Tucked into the Hotel Sorella in City Centre, Radio Milano has dishes both as beautiful to look at as they are to taste. They are layered with flavors and unexpected textures that make them a true foodie experience. The restaurant’s bar has an extensive list of cocktails and wines, so don’t hesitate to ask for a pairing with your meal. And don’t forget dessert while you are there – those are fantastic too! Menu Favorite :: Beet Tagliatelle … and anything on the dessert menu

Steak 48

Don’t let the wall of butcher knives surprise you when you walk into Steak 48 – it is their signature decoration at both the Arizona and Houston restaurants and a crowd favorite. Everything from the lighting, art, and even the waiter’s uniforms are all custom made. Steak 48’s menu includes unique appetizers, fresh seafood from the raw bar, and hand cut steaks and chops. The restaurant is crowded on most nights, so don’t forget to make your reservations. Extend your evening with window shopping in the glitzy River Oaks District – a perfect after dinner stroll. Menu Favorite :: Ahi Filet and Asparagus Fries

B&B Butchers & Restaurant

You can’t go wrong with a meal downtown at B&B Butchers. If it is a nice evening, ask to sit outside and take in the great views of downtown Houston. If you are feeling adventurous, order the dry aged Wagyu as it is a bit of a production – the petite pieces of meat appear tableside on a block of Himalayan sea salt that has been heated to 500 degrees. They are cooked on the block for just a couple of minutes and served immediately. The consistency is soft and buttery – it practically melts in your mouth. Menu Favorite :: Bacon Three Ways

Houston is no slouch when it comes to date night, with options ranging from fancy culinary stops to a night at the spa. Whether you’re a mom on a first date or one looking to step outside the normal date night realm for a fresh take on an evening out with your love, we’re in a great city for date nights … and hopefully this list narrowed down your choices to make it easier to get out and about!
