15 Telltale Signs You Live in The Woodlands

Let’s face it, y’all, The Woodlands is an awesome place to live. It has the perfect mix of small-town charm and urban flair, from the restaurants and shopping to the music and sporting events. To the residents who live here, it is not the least bit surprising that people continue to move here in droves. That being said, every town has its quirks that set it apart, and The Woodlands is no exception. Let’s sit back and poke fun at ourselves, shall we? Here are 15 telltale signs you live in The Woodlands…

  1. Whether you are a born-Texan or not, you definitely own a pair of cowboy boots {or ten}, because when in Rome…
  2. When you heard Whole Foods was moving to Hughes Landing, you felt like a kid on Christmas morning.
  3. You spend way too much time traveling up and down Woodlands Parkway — since it is the gateway to everything.
  4. During any sporting event hosted in The Woodlands, you know better than to leave the house and get stuck in Carmageddon.
  5. Whenever someone new moves to the area, you assume he or she must work in the oil and gas industry. {“Let me guess – Exxon or Anadarko”?}
  6. During the humid summer months, you have Terminix on speed dial. {Dear Mosquitos, get lost!}
  7. You can figure out where you are based on which church is on what corner.
  8. Fact :: Aside from small children, you don’t actually know anyone who was born and raised in The Woodlands.  
  9. On that note, you figure everyone who lives here is a “transplant” just like you.
  10. You fully expect to run into at least 3 people you know everywhere you go, so leaving the house without putting on makeup is not an option.
  11. You get ridiculously excited when it is not uncomfortably humid, hot or cold since it means you get to experience life outside the house. Hallelujah, y’all!   
  12. The amount of money you spend each month on pedicures, waxing, Botox, and highlight exceeds your monthly car payments.  
  13. You have a huge trove of athleisure wear that you will rock any time, any day, and anywhere.
  14. There is exactly 2 degrees of separation between you and anyone else living in The Woodlands. {Thank you, Facebook, for bringing that to our attention.}
  15. When you see massively tall trees lining both sides of the road and perfectly manicured lawns, you know you have entered The Woodlands and that you are home.
