Lauren

I am the mother to 22-month-old sextuplets. I am often referred to as the “Lady with all the Babies.” My days are filled with prepping food, feeding kids, playing, cleaning, dance partying, pushing a gigantic stroller, and running the organized chaos that is our home. Now, let’s just get some of the frequently asked questions out of the way… YES they are all my kids, NO they are not quadtriplets, 3 boys and 3 girls, YES we did fertility treatments, NO we did not plan on having sextuplets nor do sextuplets run in our family, I drive a 12 passenger van, NO we do not plan on having more kids, YES I have an amazingly wonderfully fantastic support system that helps me daily and I would not survive without them, and if you want – you can read the FULL story on how I became a mother. Whew! Now that that’s over with we can move on.

I grew up partially in Lake Charles, Louisiana and partially in Houston. I graduated from Clear Lake High School {Go Falcons!} and earned my Bachelor’s in Psychology from Baylor University {Sic ’em Bears!} and my Masters in School Psychology from University of Houston- Clear Lake. I met my husband Dave at Baylor. We got hitched back in 2007, bounced around Houston, and landed in Pearland. To test out our parenting skills, we got our rescue dog Maggie in 2010, and she has been the best doggie since day 1! Before kids, I worked as a school psychologist in several Houston area school districts. In April 2012, I became a stay at home mom to our brood. As crazy as it can be, I love it and wouldn’t change a thing!

I’m a sweetaholic. I love food – especially Mexican and peanut butter. I enjoy cooking and baking. I function on little sleep. I’m a runner – exercise is my sanity time. I can get sucked into any TV show or Lifetime movie. I love a good book. Date nights and girls nights recharge me. My church and small group are awesome. I have a knack for remembering birthdays and state capitals and song lyrics. I make up rhyme-y poems for cards and invitations. Dancing is my favorite. I’m a diet soda addict. I bite my nails. I am Lauren.

Since I have to pick one thing, I’m going with community. Although Houston is a huge city, the sense of community is everywhere. Personally, I’ve been involved in the running community, church community, neighborhood, multiples community, and now blogging community. No matter which area I’m focused on, there is a sense of family. We all support and encourage one another. You know people are there for you. As someone who has to rely on others on a daily basis, I know Houston is a strong community that takes care of its own…and I love it!

I always go in birth order. Easier for me to keep track that way.

sticker nose

Andrew :: The tallest of the six.  The master toy snatcher, door closer, drawer opener, tower builder, puzzle completer, and slider.  He loves to laugh, give hugs and kisses, make animal sounds, play peek a boo, run, eat, read books, do motions to songs, and anything cars, trucks, and ducks.  He’s great at following directions {if conditions are right} and always wants approval for his accomplishments.

distressed Ben

Benjamin :: Big Benny Boo!  He’s earned the nickname “Big Ben” and takes his eating seriously – even stretches out and savors his last bite of food.  His constant silly faces and sounds always make us laugh.  He loves books, throwing, eating, bubbles, swaying to music, running in the hallway, play food, Elmo, Donald Duck, sliding, and pushing his boundaries.  I’d say he’s the master tantrum thrower at this time too.

found it

Caroline :: The most shy of the six, she takes awhile to warm up to new people and is definitely a Mommy’s girl.  “The little mother” likes to help put laundry in the dryer, wipe her space on the table, tend to Leah, and hand out diapers.  She loves to read, cuddle, slide, watch TV, play chase, dance, do motions to songs, play peek a boo, carry around her play corn, take baths, randomly have solo dance parties in her crib at night, and belt out ear piercing cries.

Leah on couch

Leah :: Sweet Leah Peah.  She’s my snuggly cuddlebug.  She loves music, listening to stories, counting, Larry the Cucumber, her vision apps, pom poms, pinwheels, shiny bows, rattler balls, being in the water, and going for walks.  Between her cerebral palsy, vision impairment, and severe reflux and eating issues, her care is demanding – but worth every minute.  We have all worked hard for each inchstone she’s met and continue to celebrate every bit of progress.  She’s a fighter.

Christmas headband

Allison :: The Smidge.  The redhead.  Small in stature, big in personality.  Anything you can do, she can do better – and expects some recognition for it too.  She’s a quick learner and loves to show it off.  Competitive and stubborn, those big boys don’t phase her a bit.  She loves Elmo, reading, coloring, pushing her play shopping cart, playing in the tub, being little and cute, riding the rocking horse, dancing, piggy back rides, and sleeping.

Levi guitar

Levi :: Little Guy Levi.  This little charmer steals the heart of about every lady who meets him.  He’s either smiling, laughing, saying “uh oh” or waving “bye bye” at any given time.  He loves the Swiffer, the mop, the push mower, the play vacuum, or anything else he can push around.  If he’s not pushing, he’s busy with the guitar.  He loves to dance and is quite creative with it.  Rivals Ben in the silly face department.  Often seen doing his own thing and could possibly be a gymnast.
