All About Me ::

I’m first and foremost a follower of Jesus, wife to the love of my life for over ten years, and mommy to wonderfully crazy twin kiddos. Some may say I am pretty A-type with controlling tendencies, so we know that God definitely has a sense of humor when He blessed us with Ryan and Quinn. We’ve walked the path of infertility, and I have such a tender heart for anyone struggling along that journey. Keep the faith! I am the first to admit that I pretty much have no idea what I am doing when it comes to motherhood. I take great solace, comfort, and ADVICE from all my momma friends who can empathize and relate. Which brings me to my likes :: Mommy’s Night Outs, sushi take-out, a chilled glass of Pinot Grigio, fall days, college football {Geaux Tigers!}, monthly date nights with the hubs, eating sandwiches and Cheetos for breakfast, having lunch anywhere but home, and buying coordinating outfits for the kids while they still let me. I am addicted to Facebook and recoil at Pinterest {yes, I said it}. I was not born with a crafty gene so about the best I can do is heart-shaped pancakes with a plastic cookie cutter. I love being a mom and couldn’t imagine a better job – but I also recognize that we do need little breaks from each other every now and again! Thankful that I have a great part-time job as a Communications Director that allows me some much-needed adult interaction while still being able to participate in all kid-related activities. Being a mom is definitely not what I pictured when I played “house” as a naive 8 year old…it’s even better.

Best Thing About Houston ::

Y’all.

The People. The people make Houston what it is and why we chose to live here. Honestly, after we landed here following Hurricane Katrina, I thought it would be a pit stop until we found our “real” home. But soon after, we met the nicest, most down-to-earth, give-you-the-shirt-off-their-back, REAL folks. I’ve had the fantastic fortune of finding girlfriends that allow me to be ME. If you can survive the crazy hot summers {and it is possible with a plethora of large cold beverages, a well-tuned air conditioner, and preferably a neighborhood pool}, then you can do anything. Besides the fact that I’m working on my fourth Chi in 8 years, every ounce of humidity has been worth it to live here. I couldn’t imagine raising my children anywhere else. I mean, really? We live in the ‘burbs and can be at almost everything cool in Houston in 30 minutes or less. Oh, and we can’t leave out the food mecca that is Houston. Of course, I’m partial to Tex-Mex, because Hello, specialty! But we have anything and everything your heart could desire. I would also mention the shopping, but then my husband may read this and wonder how much damage I’ve managed to do in almost a decade…

Children of Mine ::

Meet Ryan. Our friendly, lovable, and smart little man. Seriously, he’s looked like a little boy since he was about 4 months old. His best friend is “Sissy.”  We call him “The Mayor” because he says “Hello” and “Good-bye” to everyone like he’s running for office. He makes my heart melt on a daily basis. He loves to snuggle and be carried everywhere. {And yes, I oblige most of the time – this stage will pass all too quickly.} He must sleep with approximately a dozen cars, five books, one monkey, and a well-worn lovie. He refuses to eat anything that is not beige, so pasta, pancakes, and bananas are staples around here. He loves to learn – but mostly by observing. He just takes it all in and it just spills out. He is ALL BOY – loves sports, cars, planes, being outside, and can tune out the outside world if his favorite show is on. He is our resident goofball, and his laugh is absolutely infectious.  He is a carbon-copy of my husband, and his baby blues are heavenly gifts from his grandfathers. I know God has big plans for Ryan, and I’m honored to be along for the ride.Clanahan1

Meet Quinn. Our sweet ‘n sassy, talkative, and precocious little diva. Her best friend is her “Bubba.” She is 100% the princess of the household. If I’m not making her wear actual clothing, she’s running around in one of her five gowns with all the jewelry and tiaras to match. She loves to draw, color, craft {shudder}, and create anything she can write a “Q” on. She is desperately afraid she’s missing out on something, so nap and bedtime prove to be challenging. She is full of affection and randomly stops me in the middle of the grocery store to pull my face down for a kiss. Pure sweetness. She is scary smart and often “problem solves” to get exactly what she wants. Most importantly, Quinn is also a testament that God is still in the miracle business. You can read more about Quinn’s “special” heart. She has a very special heart indeed, and I can’t wait to see how God uses this amazing little girl.

Meagan is a Dallas native who has lived in the Katy area for over a decade. She kicked a soccer ball all the way to Louisiana to attend college at her family’s alma mater of LSU, where she promptly fell in love with a Texas Aggie in Baton Rouge for an internship. After swimming back to Texas following Hurricane Katrina, Matt and Meagan fell in love with the Houston area and now couldn’t imagine living anywhere else. Following several years of infertility, their miracle twins Ryan and Quinn were born in June of 2010. She believes there is nothing better than a chilled glass of Pinot Grigio, a large Sonic Diet Coke, sushi take-out, Girls Nights Out, and a mindless book to curl up with. Besides playing chauffeur and catering to the whims of her children, Meagan also is the Co-Owner of Houston Moms Blog.
