DIY Kid’s Luggage Tag

LuggageTag

If you know me or have read many of my posts, you probably know that I love a little DIY project. I especially enjoy including a handmade item as part of a gift. Several years ago I bought a cute personalized bag tag online as a baby gift. When it came in the mail I thought it looked just as adorable as it did online, but I realized – I could easily make this! I found the clear luggage tags at Hobby Lobby that you just peel off one side and stick to the other. With those you can create any custom tag you like. I have made a number of these to give to friends as baby shower gifts. I have also made them for my girls. It is great to have on your child’s backpack so when you drop them off at MDO, church, daycare, school, or wherever they go, their belongings will be labeled.

Supplies

Luggage Tag {you can get a pack of 5 at Hobby Lobby near the scrap-book section}

Craft Paper

Sticker Letters

Ribbon {optional}

Glue/Scissors

Directions

All you really need to do is come up with a design you like for your tag. Search on Etsy to get ideas or come up with your own. I usually layer different patterns of craft paper and then use stick-on letters for the child’s name. If you are good at computer graphics, you could print out a cute design. On the back I print out the mom’s contact information {name and phone number}. I like to add ribbon, but you could also keep it simple without. If you do add ribbon, make sure to “burn” the edges to prevent fraying. And that’s really all – it is cheap and simple!

I know not everyone is a DIY-lover, so if this is not your thing then go check out the backpacks over at The Little Crane that are already personalized for you!
