Easter Banner :: Made By Kids – For Kids

With a growing supply  of plastic Easter eggs and the great Spring weather we’ve had recently, I bravely decided to take both boys outdoors for a quick painting session. And indeed it was pretty quick! John isn’t so much a crafter quite yet and loves the freedom of the outdoors. Let’s just say that I don’t have any “process” pictures because keeping him out of the street while keeping Wyatt interested in the task at hand didn’t leave much time for capturing it all on film.

But we managed to create a few pieces, and in the spirit of displaying the boys’ masterpieces, I decided to not only hang up the finished product but give them a creative twist. This Easter banner could not be any easier to create, and your little ones will love seeing their paintings as part of your home’s Easter decor.

Easter Banner

Materials ::

  • Muffin pan or paper plates
  • Kids paint {We love this Crayola paint set.}
  • Cardstock
  • Scissors
  • Ribbon
  • Bunny silhouette {Grab one online or freehand your own.}
  • Hot glue gun

Directions ::

  1. Separate paint colors into muffin pan {as many or as little as you want} and match a plastic Easter egg half faced-down to each color.
  2. Spread out paper and stamp a variety of colors all over the pages.  Have some fun and talk about shapes and colors. Mix colors and use different techniques. Drag the eggs instead of simply stamping. {And if you are John, just go in with your hand!}
  3. After the paint dries, trace {or draw} a bunny silhouette. Cut it out and use as a stencil to draw as many bunnies as you want for a banner. Ours includes six large bunnies, but a mantel banner of smaller bunnies would be super cute!
  4. Hot glue silhouettes to a ribbon and hang for a great kid-made Easter banner!
