Fall Family Perfection

As soon as the calender hits October and Mother Nature gives us the first taste of temperatures below 80 degrees, we are thinking one thing – Dewberry Farm!  If you haven’t loaded up your crew and headed to this mecca of family farm fun located just west of Katy, you have been missing out!

Fun on the Farm

Dewberry boasts multiple play areas all targeted at different aged children. Older kids will enjoy the larger than life spider web made for climbing,  8 acre corn maze, and if they dare…Sliiide Mountain! For the younger kids – a trike race track, hay mountain, the Dewberry Barnyard full of animals, and our toddlers’ favorite…roller slides and bounce pillows where they can bounce bounce bounce to their hearts content.

We spend the week leading up to our trip talking about the pumpkins we are going to ‘pick,’ so our kids are primed and ready to board the hayride wagon and head to the pumpkin patch upon arrival!  Bring your cameras y’all.   Babies, toddlers, and kids plus bright orange pumpkins and the beautiful Texas sky shining down on you is a photo opportunity dream! When everyone has had enough of the pumpkin patch, hop back on the hayride and head back to the farm for some lunch!

Delicious Eats

After the bouncing, tractor riding, and pumpkin picking…everyone will be ready to regroup and recharge with some food.  There is seriously the perfect treat for everyone at Dewberry.  You’ll find bbq plates and turkey legs, roasted sweet corn, fresh popped kettle corn, and sooo wrong, but ohhh so right…fried Oreos!  Our favorite option was a brown bag kid’s lunch.  It includes a grilled chicken skewer or corn dog with a drink in a kids cup and a chocolate covered pretzel dessert.  Dewberry has made sure no one is going to leave the Farm hungry!

Tips from the Pros (that’s us!)

  • BRING YOUR WAGON  Even if your kids don’t ride in it, you’ll want it for hauling pumpkins, purses, and drinks. The Farm is very stroller and wagon friendly, so don’t worry about being saddled with it all day!
  • ARRIVE EARLY This is just like the Children’s Museum or the Zoo…arrive 10 minutes before the Farm actually opens. {They open at 10 am on Saturday and noon on Sunday.} There will be a line when you get there but don’t worry – once they open up, you’ll slide right in. There is ample parking, but try to make a mental note of where you actually parked…the sea of minivans all look the same when it’s time to leave!
  • BRING CASH The farm has ATM’s available for use, but it’s just easier to have it ready.
  • ADORABLE FALL THEMED OUTFITS Of course this isn’t mandatory, but we aren’t kidding about the picture opportunities at Dewberry. Don’t be afraid to ask someone to snap a picture of your family, you might snag an awesome family photo for your holiday card!
  • VISIT THE DEWBERRY FARM WEBPAGE You’ll learn everything you ever wanted to know including directions, maps, and ticket prices!

We’re heading to the farm next weekend with our best peeps.  Just saying…we may or may not have rallied all of our friends together and had matching pumpkin outfits made for the kids.  We’ll be easy to spot, so if you see us standing in line before the farm opens, stop over and say hi!!   We can even do a big HMB group photo…hahaha!

For those of you who have been to the farm, what are we forgetting?  Leave a comment below telling us your favorite part of Dewberry!

I’ve always wanted to visit Dewberry. It’s sooooo far from us, though. Maybe it’ll make a fun daytrip soon! Your kids are just too precious!
