Halloween Fun @ NMFH {+ FREE Coupon!}

If you’re anything like us, then October in Houston screams pumpkin patches, and the start to cooler temps, and a little bit of creepy fun too!  That’s right… We all love a good thrill every now and again, and this month is the perfect time to have a little bit of Halloween fun — and at what better place than with our sponsor the National Museum of Funeral History?!?

We are SO excited that NMFH is at it again this month with a FULL line-up of Halloween events and activities.  Plus, they are so graciously giving Houston Moms Blog readers an exclusive offer to check out one of them for FREE!  Keep reading below to learn more about all that they have coming up, and then be sure to print out the coupon and plan a visit soon…

  • 4th Annual Family-Friendly Haunted House :: Yes, you read that right.  This haunted house is FAMILY-friendly.  Unlike some of the other attractions you might find around town, there aren’t any creepers who will chase after you with chainsaws or any other heart stopping antics.  Nope.  Just a classic haunted house with some thrills and chills along the way — perfect for grown-ups and kiddos too!  Plus, if you’re a little bit nervous as to how your kids might react, the museum will so graciously let you do a walk through to make sure it’s something they can handle.  {Hey, we all have our own limits.  I’ll admit I’m a bit of a chicken myself!} Running daily now through November 2nd; Admission is generally $5 for adults and $3 for kids 11 and under, but print out the coupon below to get in for FREE!

  • 8th Annual Classic Car Show :: Rescheduled due to the rainy forecast this weekend, the 8th Annual Classic Car Show is now scheduled for October 31st and will be packed with more than 100 different “dressed up” cars.  Plus, they will have tons of fun for the whole family – including face painting, arts and crafts for the kids, great food including BBQ and cupcakes from local vendors, a live DJ, a silent auction, and more.  Happening Saturday, October 31st from 10am – 3pm; Admission is $3 for individuals or $5 for couples and families; Note that admission to the Museum is separate and is not included.

  • Dia de los Muertos Celebration :: This annual event provides insight into the customs in the Latin community in honoring those who have passed, complete with fun activities and treats for kids – such as a special story time and costumed characters. This celebration will take place on Sunday, November 1st from 12pm – 5pm.

Kelly is the founder of Houston Moms Blog and has lived in this beautiful city nearly all of her life. She has a degree in education from Texas State University and was honored to teach special education for eight years to some of the cutest little kiddos you could ever meet. While teaching, Kelly met Cody – a tall drink of water and country boy to the core – and together, they fell in love, got married, and decided to start a family. In March 2011, they welcomed Hayes into the world, a silly but smart little boy with a story you have to read to believe. And in April 2013, their family was complete with the addition of Hadley, a super gregarious and oh-so-cute baby girl. Now, Kelly devotes her days to caring for her own little ones…and would not trade this new job of hers for the world! In her not-so-spare time, Kelly loves meeting up with her girlfriends for margaritas, failing miserably at Pinterest projects, and exploring this big old city with her two favorite little side-kicks in tow.
