1} What’s New for Fall Fashions?

Depending on how much you like the weather in the colder months, you can easily wear your lighter gauge knits well into February. If a little wind chill is not your favorite thing about this time of year, there are plenty of lush, cozy fabrics, and colors to sink into this fashion season. From the soccer field to Saturday brunch, these confidently beautiful looks transition through your entire busy day.

2} Fashion Cuts for Fall

In keeping with the shades of army green, we are seeing military and utility vests and jackets bursting on the scene. Our Scout and Molly’s fashionistas saw some fabulous examples from Sanctuary & Cupcakes and Cashmere. BCBG showed a jogger in a camouflage print that was amazing for that edgier look with the same style in a solid version that has perhaps a more universal appeal.

And then there’s denim. Distressed denim that is…the boyfriend jean is making a comeback. The wide leg boot cut is on its way out. The denim washes are veering towards the darker side. A higher waist is also on point for the season.

3} A Look at Colors for Fall 2016

A striking array of army green hues make the color palette cut this year, but are not to be outdone by the classically rich bordeaux. You can even vary to muted shades of lilac, blush, dark gray, and light blue to shake it up. As far as the “in” prints: we are looking at florals and stripes, while plaids are still very much en vogue.

So how to work these contrasts? It’s all about the layering and the nuances of depth you can create. A bold green over a flowy print dress or top paired back with a short bootie create that sleek distinction of contemporary and feminine. Layering is also the ideal fashion strategy for this time of the year and gives you that all day look when you don’t have time for costume changes!

4} Fall Fashion Accessories

Accessories. Those wonderful must-haves that always fit, whether you gain or lose 10 pounds. Shoes, handbags, and belts are edgy with the short bootie sporting buckles and zippers, all done up in distressed shades of brown and black. They are your go-to staple as they can be worn with EVERYTHING: denim, joggers, dresses. Belts are going a little super-chunky with large buckles, and can be worn on top of dresses or with jeans. Even western belts are en vogue {Hello, Houston!} . The other big hit in belts is the one size fits most leather wrap, that ties around the waist and has fringe tassels that drape down the front.

In bags, there’s the traditional clutch, the bucket bag, and the always convenient, hands-free cross body bag. The color palette is veering toward clutches in bright colors to add a nice pop to any ensemble; there’s an interesting array of embossed and faux croc too.
