My Favorite Reads of 2014

I know it’s February and a “Best of 2014” list should have been posted earlier than this, but here’s the truth :: my nose was stuck in a book.  Or six books.  So I’m not sorry at all.  Not even a little bit.

I set a goal of reading 50 books in 2014, and I surpassed it by completing a total of 57 books for the year.  If you are a fellow book worm, add me on goodreads so we can nerd stalk each other.  But until then, let me share my favorite reads of 2014.  I admit that I don’t deviate much on genre, so I’m categorizing my favorite reads in a little different manner…

Best Books of 2014 - Featured

Book I Lost the Most Sleep Over

18404248

{That Night by Chevy Stevens}

If anyone can write a thriller, it’s Chevy Stevens.  I don’t veer much from my normal genre, but I’ll switch for Chevy Stevens any day.  This book haunted me and I just couldn’t put it down.

Book that Made Me Shed the Most Tears

17788401-2

{Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover}

Colleen Hoover is one of the most reliable, mind-blowing authors I’ve ever read.  Ugly Love is a great stand alone, but I promise you won’t go wrong with picking up any of her books.

Book With the Most Surprising Ending

19486412-2

{Big Little Lies by Lianne Moriarty}

I thought this would be just another light, easy read, but it ended up shocking me completely.  I couldn’t believe what was going on when the twists started to show up.  It was a pleasant surprise.

Book That Made Me Look Crazy Because I Laughed AND Sobbed

20348781-2

{Loving Mr. Daniels by Brittainy Cherry}

I didn’t expect to love this one the way I did.  It’s a little different from what I normally read, but it rocked me – and I hope to read more from Brittainy C. Cherry soon.

Favorite Fun, Light Read

22846835

{Chronicles of a Lincoln Park Fashionista by Aven Ellis}

If you want to read a book that will keep you entertained with every single page, you should read an Aven Ellis book.  Her books are stuffed with witty banter and will keep you from putting it down.

Book That Made Me Nearly Throw My Kindle

18104607-2

{Beautiful Oblivion by Jamie McGuire}

…I nearly threw my kindle.  But it was sooooo good.  This is the second book in Jamie McGuire’s Beautiful Disaster series – a series that has hooked me completely.  I recommend reading these in order, starting here.

Book That Made Me Happiest

22402154

{Flat Out Celeste by Jessica Park}

I first met Celeste in Jessica Park’s Flat Out Love, which remains one of my all time favorite books.  I’ve loved Celeste from day one and have never rooted for a character more than I did in Flat Out Celeste.

 There you have it – my favorite books of 2014.

  1. The best book I read in 2014 was The Night Circus. Just fantasy enough to be different but still very real and very fun and I made like 4 other people read it and I hope they make a movie and don’t screw it up.

  2. Thank you for sharing this list! I had not heard of any of those books so I must live in a hole! 🙂 I have added them to my list {minus the thriller that haunted… I’m too much of a scaredy cat!}.
