If you haven’t done so yet, add fruit picking to your family bucket list! It’s a family tradition for many in the Houston area, and we want to help get YOU to picking! But as you do, keep in mind the most important thing — the produce picking depends on what is available, which can change on a day-to-day basis. Always call the farm ahead of time or follow them on social media to check hours and availability. {We’ve included phone numbers in our list just for you.} Also, the berries aren’t ready yet for some of these farms, but we wanted you to have a good list so you can be prepared just as soon as they reach prime ripeness!
Atkinson Farms
You can pick strawberries now through May, blackberries in May and June, and tomatoes in the summer. There is also a large store where you can load up on additional fresh produce that is grown on the farm.

Blessington Farms
Blessington Farms is best known for strawberry picking {December – May}, but they also have blueberries and blackberries {May – June}. You’ll pay $5 per pound for strawberries, $10 per pound for blueberries, and $8 per pound for blackberries. Be sure to follow their Facebook page for open hours and berry availability, and don’t miss their Farm Funland {$15 admission fee} that has hay rides, giant slides, a petting zoo, and more!

Berryland Farms
Berryland Farms is currently closed because of damage from Hurricane Harvey, but we kept it on the list, because they plan to rebuild and be back! So, check during the season to see if they are open.

Blackberries of Houston
This family business has pick your own Thornless Blackberries on a Trellis! The blackberry crops generally only last about 30 days, and then it’s over! So make plans to stop by when the berries are hot!

Chmielewski’s Blueberry Farm
This blueberry farm is located approximately 30 miles northwest of downtown Houston. They have approximately 8 acres of a mixture of Rabbiteye and Southern Highbush Blueberries. Some of the blueberries ripen early in the season, some mid season and some late in the season. The blueberries start ripening late in May and continue for about 6 weeks (possibly 1 to 2 weeks into July if it doesn’t get to hot and dry).

Froberg’s Farm
At Froberg’s Farm you can pick strawberries in the spring! Other fresh produce is available for purchase. There is also a corn maze and indoor pumpkin patch in the fall. We recommend trying out the homemade pickles, jellies, preserves, pecan brittle, and kettle corn. Take the kids to check out the snack bar for ice cream cones, snow cones, and other sweet treats.

Fruits and Such Orchard
Here you can pick juicy peaches, fresh strawberries, and more! They often have an assortment of tomatoes, herbs, and other produce to pick too.

Jollisant Farms
You can pick just about anything at Jollisant Farms in Plantersville! Choices include :: strawberries, blueberries, carrots, lettuce, corn, okra, peppers, watermelon, green beans, potatoes, peas, squash, and more! There is also a catch and release fishing pond and a stocked catfish farm where you can keep the fish you catch. Don’t miss their blueberry jalapeño jam, spicy zucchini relish, and dozens of other creative canned items for sale before you leave.

Matt Family Farm
Matt Family Orchard estimates blueberries will be available for picking in April or May. They will also have blackberries, asian dates, asian pears, figs, and asian persimmons in the fall. There are more than 40 acres of various produce on the farm. Tours are conducted year round for $9 per person and includes a hayride around 145 acres, picnic tables seating 200 people, games, swing sets, volleyball and basketball facilities, and everything you need for a campfire.

Wood Duck Farm
Pick strawberries at Wood Duck Farm on the weekends for $3 per pound. This is a working farm with many other options of produce and even a produce share program for area cities. You might even see a pasture pig or two laying around in the mud!
