Prepping for Summer … At the Dollar Store

I’ve recently found a little gem in my neighborhood that I can’t get enough of…the dollar store! Y’all. This place is incredible. And like many other realizations in my adult life, I’m the last to the party, as my friends and neighbors already knew about the great steals you can find at this modern-day version of a general store.

As I’m preparing my family for our summer of road trips, play dates, beach days, and all the fun we can handle outside, I looked no further than the dollar store to meet my needs!

Coloring Activities

When traveling on road trips or even just driving around town, the kids need entertainment in the backseat that doesn’t always come in the form of kicking the back of my chair or screen time. Thankfully, the dollar store has an impressive selection of coloring activities to keep them entertained for miles!Prepping for Summer ... At the Dollar Store | Houston Moms Blog

One brief glance at Pinterest, and you’ll find 746 things to do with a pool noodle…besides floating on it in a pool. These creative sticks can become light sabers or the path for an obstacle course! And at only a dollar, I’ve stocked up on every color!

Brittney F
Originally from Louisiana, Brittney has called Houston home for nearly all her life. Brittney graduated from Houston Baptist University where she was a member of Phi Mu and a four-year cheerleader. It didn’t take long after graduation for her to meet her husband Jeremy on the sand volleyball courts at Memorial Park. She jokes that when marrying Jeremy, she also married LSU because she tied the knot with the most passionate Tiger football fan. Many weekends in the fall, they can be found in the shadows of Tiger Stadium at their big family tailgating party. Brittney has a Master's Degree from LSU and works in secondary education as an administrator and a cheerleading coach. Brittney and Jeremy have three boys, Connor {Nov 2012}, Parker {Nov 2014}, and Ryan {May 2018}. Brittney is a big baby-making, food allergy fighting, NICU surviving mom. Though she grew up surrounded by hairbows, pom poms, and lots of pink, Brittney now embraces being a boy mom. She loves raising her three boys and learning all about superheroes, baseball, and the pain of stepping on a lego when barefoot. In her kid-free time she enjoys working on craft projects, getting lost in a good book, and watching Grey's Anatomy.
