{Play Date Announcement} Winter Waves Mini Series

The weather has been dreary, the temps have been up and down, and the kids…well, we have been going through spells of some serious cabin fever.  If you’re like us, then you are already dreaming ahead to warmer days – sunshine, fun with friends, and SWIMMING!  But why wait until summer?  This month we are so excited to be teaming up with SafeSplash Swim School for a play date series at SIX different locations around Houston!!!

SafeSplash Play Date

You’ve probably heard us talk about SafeSplash before, but if you’re new around here – SafeSplash is the fastest growing brand in the aquatics industry.  And of course, we love their invaluable focus on safety and the fact that they make learning to swim fun for all ages and abilities.  They offer year-round, indoor swim lessons, and they are even so meticulous that they require the water temperature to be kept between 84 – 86 degrees.  {Yes, even right now in January!}  Their class sizes are small, and their curriculum is top notch to help swimmers feel comfortable in the water as they learn the important life skill of swimming.  And for this fun series, we are hosting play dates at each of the six locations over a full week’s time.  We’ve got options during the week and even one during the weekend – but it’s no doubt that they will all be fun and a much needed break from the dreary winter days!  As with all of our play dates, we know that these tickets will go quick – so read the post in it’s entirety for all of the important details {especially those FAQ’s!}, then choose the date and time that best fits your needs and purchase your ticket in the form below…

FAQ’s

What can I expect during the play date?

When you first arrive, you will be matched with one of the three amazing instructors present from SafeSplash and slip into the water for a mom and tot style session. You can expect some fun games and tons of interaction between you and your child while in the water, and of course – wonderful guidance from the instructors too.  Then after class wraps up, you’ll have a chance to talk with the SafeSplash team before grabbing a goodie bag with some snacks for the road.

What if I have more than one child?

As we mentioned, SafeSplash’s number one focus is on child safety, so they are requiring a 1:1 ratio with one adult for every one kid.  But if you are a mom to more than one, you’ve got a few options to make it fun and safe for everyone … 1} ask dad, grandma, and/or friends to come along and help out or 2} use the gym’s child care for just $5 per kiddo so that you can focus your undivided attention on one child at a time.  {So as a mom of two, I’ll be putting Hadley in child care for the first session while Hayes and I have some one-on-one time in swim class.  Then, I’ll be taking Hayes to child care so that Hadley and I can have a class together for the second session.  You follow?}

What age is this play date geared toward?

This play date is open to kiddos age one years old and up, but we think that kids in the 1 – 5 age range will have the most fun!

I’ve grabbed my ticket, now what do I need to do?

To finish up the registration process and fully prepare for the play date, all participants will also be required to register via SafeSplash’s website.  There you will be able to tell the instructors a little bit more about your little one and any of their unique needs, and keeping in line with those safety standards, also fill out waivers and read more about safety practices too.  For now, just be sure to grab that ticket though.  We will follow up with the link for registration and step-by-step instructions to make that part a breeze!

#hmbplaydate & #iamsafesplash are the hashtags!

Kelly is the founder of Houston Moms Blog and has lived in this beautiful city nearly all of her life. She has a degree in education from Texas State University and was honored to teach special education for eight years to some of the cutest little kiddos you could ever meet. While teaching, Kelly met Cody – a tall drink of water and country boy to the core – and together, they fell in love, got married, and decided to start a family. In March 2011, they welcomed Hayes into the world, a silly but smart little boy with a story you have to read to believe. And in April 2013, their family was complete with the addition of Hadley, a super gregarious and oh-so-cute baby girl. Now, Kelly devotes her days to caring for her own little ones…and would not trade this new job of hers for the world! In her not-so-spare time, Kelly loves meeting up with her girlfriends for margaritas, failing miserably at Pinterest projects, and exploring this big old city with her two favorite little side-kicks in tow.
