Why Your Child Needs to ROCK This Summer {+ Giveaway!}

Summer is quickly approaching, and we could not be more thrilled to partner with School of Rock – The Woodlands, School of Rock – Kingwood, and School of Rock – Sugar Land {expected open date March 2015}. School of Rock offers a comprehensive approach to help your child not only polish their musical talents but also experience the thrill of ensemble performances – all in a creative and FUN environment. They will have studio/band rehearsal time, instruction with music professionals, bond with other young musicians, and by the end of the week, put on a live show for the school and parents. So who can participate in these amazing summer camps? Almost anyone! Ages 4-17 are welcomed at all skill levels for bass, guitar, drums, keyboards, and vocals.

Houston Moms Blog loves this remarkable concept of not only a music camp, but as a fantastic chance for your child to really ROCK this summer. There are so many amazing benefits of the School of Rock that we couldn’t possibly list them all, but here are just a few of why your child should jam!

1. Fun

Simply put, campers at School of Rock just have FUN! They firmly believe that there’s little point to learning how to play music if it isn’t fun. And isn’t that the whole point of summer anyway? From 9am to 3pm Monday through Friday of your camp week, your child will have a blast as they hone their various musical skills, interact with their super talented instructors, and form invaluable friendships with their fellow campers. Sounds like a blast to us!

2. Teamwork

In our opinion, the best camps are ones where your kids can take away life lessons, and what’s more important than learning the value of teamwork? Because the camps are performance-based, they have ample opportunities to work together while they ramp up for their live show at the end of camp. At School of Rock, they aren’t just playing an instrument, they are playing on a team. This encourages campers to listen to each other, support their fellow musicians, and really learn to play as a live ensemble. How inspiring would it be to see a group who has never met before Monday absolutely ROCK it out by Friday? Fantastic.

3. Music Appreciation

School of Rock follows the credo of “teach the music first and they’ll become more interested in theory” versus hammering theory down first as the child loses interest in playing at all. That’s why they start with teaching music that the kids actually want to play along to – from classic rock to alternative. And the quicker your child is playing actual music, they will develop an appreciation for the finer points of their chosen instrument as they gain experience.

4. Build Confidence

We absolutely love that the School of Rock camps help cultivate confidence in your child, whether they are just beginning or a more seasoned player. They will encounter instructors that powerfully believe in their abilities and receive support from their bandmates that will allow their self-assurance to flourish. The camps are designed to challenge, encourage to succeed, overcome obstacles, and grow as artists. Campers leave School of Rock ready to really ROCK in their daily lives as well and become leaders in their community and schools. In our opinion, there is nothing better than a confident child doing what they love!

SOR Camp 3

A dad even penned these words regarding his son Josh’s time at SOR camps ::

I can’t tell you what an enriching experience this has been for our whole family and especially for Josh. The instructors there were so much more than teachers for Josh, they were his idols and his role models. It has been an amazing time, and I know that as Josh gets older he will look back on all the memories he made at the SOR fondly. You have created something special there, and I hope you understand what an impact your efforts have had on the lives of these children.

Itching to sign up your child yet? We sure are! And we have to tell you, NOW is absolutely the best time to get started. Just until April 30th, all three School of Rock locations {The Woodlands, Kingwood, and Sugar Land} are offering a FULL THIRD off the cost of your summer tuition! It is by far the largest promotion they run during the year and an amazing opportunity to let your child experience all of the awesomeness of camp at School of Rock. {Even better, since the directors realize that you may not have your entire summer mapped out yet, you can sign up now and choose your camps at a later date. How perfect is that?}

And just when we thought we couldn’t love these amazingly convenient locations more, School of Rock is sweetening the pot even more. They are offering THREE fantastic giveaways just to our Houston Moms Blog readers with a combined value of $700! Ready for this?
