By this point in Spring Break, you’re either relaxing on the beach, toes in the sand, with a drink with a little umbrella in it in your hand….or you’ve accepted the fact that the most relaxed you’ll be this week are those glorious twelve seconds when you wake up before your feet hit the ground for a day full of kid-chasing ahead of you. If you’re like me, and you weren’t fortunate enough to go on a lavish vacation, it doesn’t mean you can’t give your kids a change of pace this season. A spring staycation just might be what your family needs! You can make the most out of your time at home by engaging in a few fun, family-centered activities!

Have an indoor picnic. Pack some sandwiches and snacks and lay a picnic blanket on the floor. Dine as a family and enjoy a delicious spread without worrying about the weather cooperating!
Go camping inside. Pull out pillows, blankets, sleeping bags, and flashlights – and camp in the living room or play room. Stovetop s’mores are an added delight! Less mosquito bites, more pillow fights! How could that not be fun?
Make some tropical delights. If you can’t enjoy an umbrella-drink with your toes in the sand, here’s the next best thing! Have fun making frozen mock-tails, smoothies, or sparkling drinks with your kids. You can use the glasses reserved for special occasions to make it extra fun for the kids. Don’t forget bendy straws and sliced fruit to top it off!
Host a film festival. Get the entire family involved by letting everyone pick a movie to watch. Let the kids “sell” you tickets in exchange for candy, popcorn, and drinks. Snuggle in your most comfortable clothes and enjoy a day on the couch!
Get crafty! Now this may be the teacher in me that’s talking, but nobody wants to see the end of Spring Break. Why not have your kids make little cards or crafts to give to their teachers and friends when they get back to school on that dreaded Monday?
Entertaining your family doesn’t have to be costly! With items you can find around the house, you can easily change the entire atmosphere of your home. {Which, let’s be honest, probably is bursting with cabin fever!}
Loved this, Jill! So excited to see your segment. I love the film festival idea. 😉
Love the camping inside idea! Lots of fun memories that included pillow forts.
I also love the camping idea. I remember having endless hours of fun myself when I was a kid. I totally forgot about this activity. I will introduce this to my kids this weekend.
