11 Easy & Fun Summertime DIY Craft Ideas

So your kids are about to be out for the summer! Insert all the feels here. I’m part thrilled {no more lunch making duties, praise!} but also part apprehensive because I know soon that I will hear the constant refrain of “I’m SO bored, Mom!” I mean, pool and play dates are all good, but sometimes it’s just nice to stay home with the constant whir of the central A/C, amiright? That’s why I love our partners at Pop Shop America for putting together this valuable resource chockful of their most popular and kid-friendly summertime DIY craft ideas that you can do at home. Thank goodness for crafty people who can get me inspired to dust off my glue gun and break out my scissors.

11 Easy & Fun Summertime DIY Craft Ideas

{1} Free Coloring Pages :: Adult coloring pages are all the rage right now. Download your free printables here and get started on that meditation, sure to ease the stress of those hot summer days!

{2} How to Make a Hula Hoop :: You won’t believe how easy it is to make your own hula hoop, plus take a look at how creative you and your kids can get on decorating it. So much cuter than those store-bought plastic ones!

{3} Extract Strawberry DNA :: While summer is clearly about the fun, I love when I can incorporate learning into the equation. This simple project will lead to some fabulous science lessons! Take a look at the other links for how to make your own crystals and kaleidoscopes too.

{4} Make Your Own Ice Cream :: What’s better than Blue Bell in the summer? Making your very own taste sensation! While clearly the parent will need to be in charge of the dry ice portion, your kids will have a great time measuring out ingredients and choosing their special flavors. Plus this ice cream comes together QUICK.

{5} Create Your Own Earrings :: If your girl is a budding fashionista like mine, she will love making these super cute earrings with shrinkies. Say what?!? Also, cute designs for the boys too – they can make key chains.

{6} DIY Wildflower Seed Packets :: Okay, these would make absolutely adorable gifts. Super easy and cute to tuck inside a garden pail and shovel, and boom, you have a fantastic gift for a budding gardener.

{7} DIY Bath Bombs :: These are a treat for you and your kids alike! Perfect for those moms who love infusing oils too. Ahhh, is it bath time yet?

{8} Heart Earrings with Shrinky Dinks :: After herding kiddos to the pools and camps galore, I look forward to a girl’s night IN. I love the idea of making these earrings with your girlfriends, while sipping on some delicious white wine sangria of course!

{9} Geometric Coaster DIY :: Another fun yet educational activity to do with your kids, especially those who love the game Tetris! Use colorful Tangram pieces to piece together these whimsical coasters. Bonus :: Make ahead for your child’s math teacher as a bribe, I mean, welcome back to school gift.

{10} How to Make a Pom Pom Burger :: I adore this precious idea of making a delish, albeit fake, burger with just a handful of supplies and a dash of creativity. Let your child’s imagination run wild thinking of all the different combos they can make using colored felt!

{11} DIY Ombre Ice Cream Garlands :: I can’t even with this one. So incredibly cute for your child’s summer birthday party or just an ice cream-themed play date. Most of the materials you probably have around the house. Who knew ombre could be so easy?

See what I mean?!? These ideas are awesome — and that’s high praise coming from a non-crafty type like me. Oh, and don’t forget to connect with Pop Shop for more ideas, resources, and even some fun class options!
