Dear Working Moms, Stay-at-Home Moms, Work-at-Home Moms,
This parenting gig is quite a ride, right? We lovingly and {mostly} willingly spend our minutes, hours, days, months, and years pouring our hearts into raising the sweet littles with which we have been gifted.
Meeting other moms on this journey is fantastic. Raising children does indeed take a village. These are the people you meet at the park and for Chick-Fil-A on a rough day. They keep you sane and remind you that everything is just a phase.
And let’s face it. Sometimes we need a little mom time with these girls, right? Our Spring weather sets the perfect scene to take some time for you. Ask for help with bedtime routine or treat yourself to a sitter, and make it happen. Take time to get together with the best moms you know — your mom friends!
Celebrate YOU!
- Celebrate Beginnings :: Throw an anniversary party. Pick a favorite restaurant {or one with great prices on appetizers and drinks}, dress up {or down}, and raise those glasses in honor of how far you’ve come and how close you are. Don’t know when your group technically started? Make up a date and make it a tradition!
- Baby Showers :: Babies are most likely the reason for your friendships, so take time to welcome more! What a great excuse for those sweet baby shower decoration ideas anyway! {First time hosting a shower? We’ve got a great guide for throwing one right here in Houston!}
- Holiday Parties :: Holidays are for family and friends. Start an annual Favorite Things party during the holiday season to sneak in a night out when life often becomes quite hectic.
- Mix & Mingle :: Want someone else to plan everything so you can just grab your girls and go? Then, mark your calendar for a Mom’s Night Out with Houston Moms Blog! There is an event group set-up for our next one in May…and word on the street is that you do NOT want to miss it!!
Take It In
- Mom’s Night In :: There are so many options here, Ladies. Make it a simple potluck, go all out with a theme party, or even plan to test some Pinterest pins {food and crafts} with each other. The point is, just meet at someone’s house and hang out kid-free!
- Make a Meal :: Host a freezer meal cooking club.
- Book Club :: This one is a classic. Choose a book {perhaps one you’ve seen our articles on books!}, and make an attempt to discuss at least a little over a glass of sangria and appetizers.
- Bunco Group :: I’ll be honest. I have no ideas how to play or even the what the gist of the game is. But I’ve heard it’s super fun!
Go Out And About
- Adventure on! :: Schedule a bike tour of the city.
- Pamper Yourselves :: Look into meeting after bedtime routines for a pedicure party. Many salons offer group discounts and extend their hours.
- Play Picasso :: Painting at Pinot’s Palette {among others} is a great place to chit-chat and exercise creativity too!
- Consign Together :: Or at least shop a consignment sale together. Check out Just Between Friends and Rhea Lana for a few ideas.
- Strike! :: Lace up and go bowling.
- Make a Day Date :: If the kiddos are in school or activities, meet for brunch or grab popcorn for a matinee.

What am I missing? Fill a momma in already! And if I’m being totally honest, getting together isn’t always so easy. So if all else fails, turn those Houston play dates into mom dates and sneak in some girl time.
