ABC’s of me :: Andrea

All About Me ::

I’m a Jesus follower, wife, mom, sister, and friend. I left my job in the TV business in late 2013 to do freelance projects and spend more time with my girls.  Brandon, my awesome and supportive husband, can fix just about anything by watching how-to videos on YouTube. I love this about him!  One tradition we somehow started 7+ years ago…Thursday = pizza & margarita night!  After living in the Montrose area of Houston and owning a home in The Heights, we decided to move to the “livable forest” Kingwood. We love the greenbelts and parks! I think most problems can be solved with a nice, long run.  When I’m not playing princesses or play-doh with my girls, I enjoy working on simple DIY projects, taking a quick cat nap, or flipping through magazines or cookbooks. I believe crafting and making things with your hands can be the best therapy.  I also think *anyone* can do crafts. That is why I started Spilled Milk DIY where I share easy projects, fun stories, and even a few cute pictures of my girls. Trust me…if I can DIY, so can you!

Best Thing About Houston ::

I think the best part of Houston is the awesome places to run and the amazing thrift stores! From the Memorial Park loop and trails to the dirt paths that wind down Allen Parkway and into the Heights, you are sure to catch some awesome views of sculptured art along the way. Up in Kingwood where I live, there are 70+ miles of greenbelts {and tons of parks!}. I love to go “thrifting” around town. A few of my favs :: Value Village in Bellaire, The Sand Dollar in The Heights, and Family Thrift Store in Porter. You can dig, dig, and DIG to find hidden treasures.

Children of Mine ::

I always said I wasn’t sure about having children. But when I met my husband Brandon after moving back from living in Boston, all of that changed. Funny how falling in love changes everything you thought you wanted in life, right? In August of 2009, we had Claire. A few months after she was born my mom pointed out…”Hey, you know you guys are A, B and C, right?”  So when I became pregnant in 2011, we just knew a “D” baby was in our future.  In September 2012, Daisy was born. Claire is a protective big sister who loves doing craft projects, painting, drawing, and swinging.  Daisy is a tough cookie who has amazing deep blue eyes and a feisty personalty. I can’t imagine life as “A” without my B, C, & D!

I am so excited to be a part of the Houston Moms Blog team! Touch base with me anytime by email at andreaslaydonhmb {at} gmail {dot} com, on my blog Spilled Milk DIY, or on Twitter!
