Changes

It is so hard to believe that Houston Moms Blog will officially celebrate its six month birthday in just a few days.  Six months.  SIX MONTHS.

So much has happened in those six months – dozens of topics, hundreds of blog posts, thousands of followers.  Yet so much has stayed the same – community, inspiration, encouragement, the list goes on.  Not a day goes by that I am not in utter and complete awe of what Houston Moms Blog has become.  It is bigger and wilder than my dreams ever could have imagined, and I feel like such a proud mama as I bask in its beauty.  The beauty created by you, our loyal readers, and our phenomenal team.  Just look at us…

But of course we know that even the most beautiful of things cannot always stay the same.  Change is inevitable.  And change is not something to be feared or anxious over, but something we should embrace and celebrate.  Which is exactly what we are doing here at Houston Moms Blog right now.

Our team is going to be changing.  Just a little bit.  Most of the sweet mamas you see above will still be around to share their journeys of this wild ride called motherhood with all of you, but a few will be saying farewell and rooting us on from the sidelines instead.  With changes in life and changes in careers, a few of the moms simply cannot continue contributing to Houston Moms Blog on a full-time basis.  And we support and love them for the decisions they are making for themselves and for their families.

But before they go, they had this to say about the HMB experience as well as a little message for all of you…

Channing

I am so grateful for my time with Houston Moms Blog.  At this time, I have decided to step down and focus on some personal efforts and dreams.  The opportunity to share a piece of my journey through motherhood has meant the world to me.  Please keep in touch and continue to check in on me and my fam over at Living Lobpries.

For me, Houston Moms Blog has been the best experience as a writer and a local Houston momma.  It has been an amazing honor to be a part of this wonderful group of ladies.  I have not only learned more about them, but about myself as well.  We have a beautiful editor, our fearless leader, who has not only guided me through most of my posts down to the very last second, but has simply been so graceful through this entire opportunity.   I am happy to have been a part of this space and will look forward to sharing when I can in the future.  THANK YOU KELLY & HMB!!!

It’s been a wonderful 6 months with Houston Moms Blog, but since I am now pregnant with baby number two, I’ve had to re-prioritize and focus on my family.  I am in the process of launching a business in order to be able to work more from home, so I’ve had to cut back on commitments to make room for new endeavors.  You can definitely keep up with me, my pregnancy, and everything else on my blog, Meg O. on the Go.  I’ll be back every once in a while to guest post, and of course, I am a continued supporter of Houston Moms Blog!

I am so thankful for my time here at Houston Moms Blog.  It has been an honor to share my journey here with all of you.  The mamas that make up the HMB Team are some of the most amazing women, and I have been so fortunate to make so many great friends through this experience.  I will miss my time on this space, but I am also excited for what the future holds.  I have not one, but two new blog projects in the works, and I am looking forward to seeing where the Lord leads me through these endeavors.

Oh, how we will miss these four!

Thankfully, these difficult changes are bringing about some really wonderful changes though too.  With mamas stepping down, it allowed us to extend an opportunity to all of you – which we carried out in our open contributor call a few weeks ago.  And now we have five AMAZING women being added to our team!  Each of these moms have a unique perspective, a beautiful way with words, and a positive presence that leaves your heart full.  We are beyond thrilled to introduce each of our new contributors to you this week…and we know that you will embrace them just as the HMB Team has already done too.  Stay tuned this week for their ABC’s of Me posts {Remember those?  If not, you can go back and catch up.}, and check out our social media outlets for more pictures and fun facts about each of them too.

I have a really great feeling that this is going to be a FABULOUS year!  Thank you oh-so-much for joining along!!

Houston Moms Blog Team

Just one last thing before I go – I cannot close out this post without giving a HUGE shout out to Momma’s Gonna SNAP for once again taking such beautiful pictures of us!  With nothing but her camera and a few minutes of her time, she manages to capture the sheer joy and adoration we all feel for one another and for this entire Houston Moms Blog experience.  We are so grateful to have had her on this journey with us from the very beginning, and hopefully for a long time still to come.  After all, she sure does make HMB look GOOD!  {…as well as most of our babies and families in our personal pictures too!}

Kelly D
Kelly is the founder of Houston Moms Blog and has lived in this beautiful city nearly all of her life. She has a degree in education from Texas State University and was honored to teach special education for eight years to some of the cutest little kiddos you could ever meet. While teaching, Kelly met Cody – a tall drink of water and country boy to the core – and together, they fell in love, got married, and decided to start a family. In March 2011, they welcomed Hayes into the world, a silly but smart little boy with a story you have to read to believe. And in April 2013, their family was complete with the addition of Hadley, a super gregarious and oh-so-cute baby girl. Now, Kelly devotes her days to caring for her own little ones…and would not trade this new job of hers for the world! In her not-so-spare time, Kelly loves meeting up with her girlfriends for margaritas, failing miserably at Pinterest projects, and exploring this big old city with her two favorite little side-kicks in tow.
