DIY Kids’ Halloween Costumes

Halloween is right around the corner and that means it’s time to get those costumes ready. Whether you are taking the kids to a fall festival, trick-or-treating, visiting Zoo Boo, or going to any of the other fall events in Houston {we’ve listed almost all of them here}, dressing up the kids can be so much fun. Especially if your kids are young – take advantage, mamas! Soon they will have strong opinions on what they want to be and will not be so easily persuaded to wear what you want them to wear. If you are still trying to come up with costume ideas, here are some creative DIY kids’ Halloween costumes from our team of contributors. Hopefully this will inspire you!

Flinstones

With a few yards of fabric and a little sewing {or fabric glue and safety pins!}, you can easily include the whole family into this theme – Fred, Wilma, Pebbles, and Bam Bam.

Who would have thought you could turn a jacket into an adorable fox costume by adding ears and a tail? This could be done for lots of different animals too.

Peter Pan

This is perfect for a boy/girl sibling theme. Start with what you have – a green leotard or top or green leggings, then add some felt to complete the look for Tinkerbell, Wendy, and Peter Pan.

How adorable is this? Next time you get that big Amazon box in the mail, don’t toss it! Just think of the possibilities that could come from a cardboard box and some creativity.

If you have everything you need for a cowboy costume, then all you have to do is buy some cow fabric and cut it in the shape of a vest! Buzz Lightyear would make a cute brother costume too.
