Since 1970, Earth Day has provided a day to reflect on how our way of living impacts our environment. We take a day to bring awareness to what we can do as individuals, community members, and global citizens to help our planet thrive. This year Earth Day officially falls on Sunday, April 22nd. There are many fun events around town to share this day with our family and friends.

Saturday, April 21

Party for the Planet @ the Houston Zoo

9 a .m. – 3 p.m.
With a maze, a scavenger hunt, a DJ, and a special ladybug release on Saturday only, this party is going to be a major hit for all ages. Don’t forget the water park will be open, weather permitting.

Regular Admission, FREE for Zoo Members

Children’s Museum Earth Day Bash

10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
The Children’s Museum will be offering all their usual experiential exhibits for the kids along with so many interesting Earth-loving focused activities. They will also be handing out free tree samplings, while supplies last. Don’t be late!

Houston Arboretum @ Nature Center

10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
The Houston Arboretum is always one of Houston’s premier resources on Earth-friendly behaviors and knowledge. This Earth Day they are serving up an extra special dose of FREE Earth Day fun, including face painting, crafts, and food trucks. Be sure to ride share if you can. There will be limited parking.

Bay Day Festival

Kemah Boardwalk
11 a.m. – 4 p.m.
This festival includes bay-themed arts and crafts, live animal demonstrations and touch tanks, a scavenger hunt, science and marine exhibits, live music, and more.

10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Includes a scavenger hunt, conservation tours, and an opportunity to meet endangered animals up close!
