Houston Moms "Friday Favorites:: A Weekly Glance at Our Favorite Things" #houstonmoms #houstonmomsblog #momsaroundhouston

Happy Friday! I am so excited to share some of my fave things these days! These goodies make me giddy, ease a little stress, and give me some peace of mind. I hope they do the same for you!

Fun TV Time

Friday Favorites The Weakest LinkI loved The Weakest Link years ago, and now it is even better with Jane Lynch as the host. Test your trivia knowledge and imagine making your game show debut like I do.

I swear, based on my home performances each week, I have earned millions of dollars on the show!

What bridge connects San Francisco and Oakland by way of Yerba Buena Island? At over 30,000 words, what is the longest play by William Shakespeare? Oscar-winning rapper Lonnie Lynn is better known by what ordinary-sounding stage name?

Test your knowledge with questions like these on NBC’s The Weakest Link on Monday nights!

Hair Care

Friday Favorites ingredients for homemade clay mask

A friend introduced me to this amazing homemade clay hair mask a few months ago, and I will never go back to the store-bought option!

This specific mask is described as helpful for curly hair, but the benefits are helpful for any type of hair. The recipe combines bentonite clay, coconut, castor and almond oils and apple cider vinegar to hydrate and soften your hair!

Coat your damp hair with the mixture, put a shower cap on and let it sit for 30 mins {or longer… I always forget I have it on}, rinse and condition.

Repeat one or twice a week and luxuriate in your soft, manageable hair!

Mind-clearing Game

Friday Favorites water sorting game

I’m obsessed with the game, Water Sort Puzzle, as my go-to, relaxing distraction when I need a quick break. No bells and whistles, just separating mixed colors from beakers, trying to fill each with just one color.

Sometimes, I need to watch an ad to get an extra, empty beaker… and I hate when I have to do that! I want to win without help, dang it! But, I literally celebrate when I can sort the colors without a helping hand! And that’s what we all need:: any reason to celebrate in 2020!

Download it from your app store and join me in this addiction!

Amazon Must Have

Although we aren’t as “out and about” as we’re used to, we still take lots of pics! But the lighting in our homes or on our limited outings may not bode well for the most flattering selfies or portraits.

How I {and my Instagram} have survived without the Lumee Duo, the light up phone case, for so long is astonishing.

This handy gadget illuminates your personal photo shoots with front and back, dimmable lights!

Love it, and it loves me!

Homeschool Tool

One of my focuses while homeschooling is avoiding screen-time whenever I can. It’s tough, and my kids do love their screen time. Reading Eggs and educational shows have worked their way into our routine, but I’m thankful to have found Hot Dots, the screen-time free learning tool!

With the provided books and cards, my kids do learning activities with their puppy pal, “Ace, the talking, teaching dog.”

Ace lights up green and tells them when they choose the correct response to a question, and lights up red when they answer incorrectly.

After we’d worked out the fascination with simply clicking Ace down on anything around the house to make him respond, my kids actually got into learning!
