I love seeing all of the beautiful holiday wreaths at the craft stores but I do not like their price tag at all. Being the self-proclaimed Pinterest Queen that I am, I found that you can make your own custom wreath for a fraction of the cost of the mass produced ones sold in stores. Make one for your home, gift one to a friend, or host your very own wreath making party.
Materials Needed ::
- 1 Green wired wreath frame from the floral section
- 2-3 Rolls of burlap ribbon
- 2-3 Rolls of decorative ribbon
- 1 Package of pipe cleaners in matching color to your ribbon, cut into thirds
- Decorative inserts, frames, bows, etc.
- Hot glue gun
Directions ::
1} Pinch the end of your burlap and secure it with a pipe cleaner to the outer ring of your wired frame.
2} Depending on how tight or loose you want your bunches to be, measure approximately 6-7 inches from each pinch. Secure your second pinch to the next inner ring of your frame.
3} Repeat steps 1 and 2, zigging and zagging back and forth from the outer ring and next inner ring until you’ve come all the way around it. Do not cut the burlap. Bring the burlap inward to the next ring.
4} Continue with the same technique for the last two inner rings. Cut the burlap after your final pinch.
5} Use a pipe cleaner to attach your decorative ribbon to the middle ring. Go all the way around.
6} Add your inserts, bows, and frames with a hot glue gun.
This is a basic and versatile wreath. You can use mesh ribbon or large width ribbon to create a similar look for any holiday. Happy crafting, mamas!
