Elyssa Gottheim
Elyssa was born and raised in Houston. Deciding to try out life in the cold weather, Elyssa attended University of Michigan for undergrad and University of Chicago for grad school. After obtaining her LCSW {licensed clinical social worker}, Elyssa decided that she was not cut out for the cold and moved back to Houston in 2012. Shortly after her move, Elyssa met her husband, Paul. Elyssa and Paul have been married for 6 years and have two children – Henry {October 2018} and Josephine {March 2021}. After working in schools, hospitals, and community clinics, Elyssa currently has a private practice where she specializes in working with children, adolescents, young adults, and parents. When she isn’t working or chasing after her kids, Elyssa’s favorite activities can be described as the ultimate mom cliché – baking, working out, and napping. Elyssa is a huge fan of trying new restaurants and dining spots especially if it involves any form of dessert!

  1. Memorial Drive UMC has a brand new indoor playground that just opened in April. It is located on their West Campus in the Journey worship center. They have special play hours- Monday’s 2-4 and Wednesday’s 10-12. (Memorial city area)

  2. Just an aside a lot of kids played in the Garage when we were growing up but, with the chemicals, automatic garage doors and tools most upscale Houston homes have now I would not recommend the garage as a safe inside play spot. We have repair a many a garage door after an expensive play day in the garage. 🙂

  3. Theres a place in The Woodlands/Spring that I think is fairly new. It’s called Kanga’s! We have gone several times. It’s an indoor ac and heated playground with tubes, slides, ball pits, and everything to climb on. Also, includes a pirate ship ride and rock climbing. The food is fabulous as well!

  4. Imagine U in Humble has been closed indefinitely (since June 1). There is a Kanga’s in Humble as well as Candeeland which is located in Deerbrook Mall in Humble.
