Meyerland is adjacent to Bellaire and outside the 610 loop, but inside the Beltway. Meyerland was greatly affected by Hurricane Harvey and other infamous flooding events, but this amazing community has banded together each time to rebuild. The love that the community has for its members is one of the reasons why it is the heart of Houston.

Meyerland is a very special area in Houston that moms just love. Families are flocking to Meyerland for the beautiful residential neighborhoods and amazing sense of community. Bellaire and Meyerland are in the heart of the Jewish community, with Houston’s Jewish Community Center, Congregation Beth Israel, Congregation Beth Yeshurun, and several smaller synagogues in the area.

- Houston Public Libraries boast quite a few family friendly activities. Find your closest location here. Your kids will love the library and all of its FREE fun things to do. A few of us may even want to move into it! A lot of neighborhoods even boast Free Little Libraries that can help your kid keep their love of reading alive.
- Meyerland Plaza is a large shopping center with major retailers dedicated to bringing the convenience of shopping to moms-on-the-go!
- Herbert Godwin Park offers a playground, lighted sports field, and an outdoor pavilion near the popular community center. Perfect for families looking for a day outing!
- Meyerland Park is a park with a really cool playground, featuring a boat, fisherman’s wharf and whale slide. There are also tennis courts, a ball field, free street parking, and is close to a neighborhood elementary school. Check it out!
Childcare and Schools
We know finding great child care and schools is a daunting task. There are hundreds of great day care options in this area, but finding the right one for your family takes work. For grades K-12, the area is zoned to HISD and parents should research carefully how to navigate the HISD schools. There are also many charter schools across Houston, like YES Prep and Harmony Schools.

Mommy breaks like date nights, an occasional brunch, and staycations are an important part of self care.
