Nothing really prepares you for parenthood. No amount of books, babysitting, or birthing classes will ever be quite enough to prepare you for those first milestones, that first illness, or that first look into your little ones eyes as you fall head over heels in love with a tiny person that you just met. For us, motherhood often feels innate, but it takes a special man to become a great dad. To give of himself freely, to show his more tender side, and to love unconditionally. While you can’t buy a “Great Dad Starter Kit” in a store, Saint Bernard, a Texas family owned company, has been getting families ready for adventure since 1978. Dad will feel ready for the day in a new woven shirt from Peter Millar and a YETI Rambler in his hand, ready to make memories on the beach in Bonobos swim, or ready when it’s campout weather in Patagonia. And we are thrilled to be partnering with them to shine a light on some great dads right here in Houston…with a really amazing prize package for one amazing dad too!
That’s right, we are on the hunt for a special and deserving dad this month as we celebrate Father’s Day. We want to honor that special Houston area dad who goes well beyond the call of duty, so we’ve partnered together with Saint Bernard to recognize Houston’s 2016 Great Dad in the Great Outdoors. But of course, we need your help to find him!

Who are we looking for?
Whether it’s your husband, father, coworker, neighbor, or a family friend who inspires you – we want to know all about him! We know that Houston is overflowing with great dads, and we are relying on you to help us find this very special man to recognize and celebrate. Read through the brief criteria below, and then send in YOUR nomination for Houston’s 2016 Great Dad in the Great Outdoors!
- A dad who goes above and beyond to make a difference in the lives of his children.
- Someone who works hard to support his family – be it emotionally, physically, and/or spiritually.
- A man who does a wonderful job in his role as a dad, as well as his place of employment.
- Someone who gives back to the Houston community.
- Someone who sets a great example for those around him.
- And of course, a dad who loves the outdoors and/or spending quality time with his family!
How do you nominate someone?
- Complete the form below to nominate the special dad in your life.
- Please limit submissions to 400 words or less.
- Included in the submission form, be sure to upload an accompanying photo of your nominee spending time in the great outdoors.
- Submissions will be accepted through Wednesday, June 15th at Noon CST. {Please Note :: It is VERY important that you confirm your submission has gone through before closing out of this page. Once you click ‘SUBMIT’, the page will refresh and you will get a confirmation notice if all information has been entered properly.}
- The Houston Moms Blog team will determine a select number of finalists who will be featured on our Facebook Page beginning Thursday, June 16th.
- From there, we’ll ask our readers and followers to join in on the voting. The picture that receives the most ‘likes’ {in our official album} by Sunday, June 19th {Father’s Day} at Noon CST will be deemed our Houston’s 2016 Great Dad in the Great Outdoors and awarded a generous prize package from our friends at Saint Bernard!
