Recap #1 :: BIG Fun at The Little Gym {Sugar Land & The Heights}

TLG Play Date Header

Please Note :: This entire play date series would not be possible without all of our wonderful event sponsors! Thank you to The Little Gym of Sugar Land / Missouri City and The Little Gym of Houston Heights for hosting such fun classes, to Chick-Fil-A Sugar Land and Sawyer Heights for the delicious snacks and drinks, and a special thanks to our dear friend Momma’s Gonna SNAP Photography for all of the beautiful pictures seen below.

Have we told you how much we LOVE play dates?  Oh, we have?  Well, we are going to say it just one more time – WE LOVE PLAY DATES!  Especially when they are with all of you…and our sponsors at The Little Gym.  Our most favorite thing about kicking off this play date series is that we have officially set a precedent for all that is to come.  From here on out, you know what to expect, how it is going to look, and most of all – that they are seriously fun!  Now, of course, the rest of the play dates in this series might have a few differences or unexpected surprises – but our hope is that you will join us for at least one.

The Little Gym 1 - 1

While the area of town may have differed…and the locations may not have looked exactly the same…there is no doubt that both the classes at The Little Gym of Sugar Land / Missouri City and the classes at The Little Gym of Houston Heights were PACKED full of fun!  The instructors were so helpful and so encouraging as our little ones got to know the layout of the gym and become acquainted with all of the equipment, and we love how it was the perfect mix of structured activities and free exploration all class long.  Throughout our time in the gym, we enjoyed songs and games and toys and more.  Come to think of it – there wasn’t one, single moment where the kids were not actively engaged and nurturing some type of developmental skill {motor, cognitive, sensory…the list goes on!}.  It was so neat to watch all of the little ones come together to learn a new skill, and then venture off to try it all on their own.  And while the kids just saw this as a PLAY date, the learning and growing going on is what made it so special for all of us moms!

The Little Gym 1 - 2

Thankfully, all of the energy that was burned {by the kids AND the adults} was quickly refueled courtesy of our friends over at Chick-Fil-A!  The crew from Chick-Fil-A Sugar Land brought over trays and trays of chick-n-minis, fruit, cookies, and of course – drinks to wash it all down.  And Chick-Fil-A Saywer Heights?  Well, they brought sooo many cookies to munch on and sweet tea and lemonade to drink…plus, the cow made a special appearance and had so much fun with us too!

The Little Gym 1 - 3

And last, but certainly not least, how special was it to have Momma’s Gonna SNAP there to capture all of these GORGEOUS pics?  We just love how creative she is with her camera and how many special moments she manages to steal without us even taking notice.  Several members of our HMB Team already have her booked for holiday photos, and we know those pictures will be just as breath-taking as these!

A Little Tidbit About The Little Gym

{As we close out each recap throughout this series, we are going to be sharing a little extra piece of information about The Little Gym that you might not know.  Feel free to contact the gym closest to you for more information or for any other questions you may have as well!}

There is nothing like falling in love with something – only to realize that you will soon be searching for a new one because your child is on the verge of outgrowing it.  {Sweet little baby shoes, anyone?}  Thankfully, our friends at The Little Gym have programs and classes starting as young as 4 months old…..and going all the way up to 12 years old!!!  We just love that you can start with the parent/child class to allow you and your kiddo to warm up to the program and get to know the ropes, and then once they hit 3 – off they go on their own!  There’s gymnastics and sports skills and dance and more.  The Little Gym really encourages your children to find what interests them and helps them continue to grow.  The fun is endless and the classes are catered specifically to each age group, so check it out no matter how old your children are!

Kelly is the founder of Houston Moms Blog and has lived in this beautiful city nearly all of her life. She has a degree in education from Texas State University and was honored to teach special education for eight years to some of the cutest little kiddos you could ever meet. While teaching, Kelly met Cody – a tall drink of water and country boy to the core – and together, they fell in love, got married, and decided to start a family. In March 2011, they welcomed Hayes into the world, a silly but smart little boy with a story you have to read to believe. And in April 2013, their family was complete with the addition of Hadley, a super gregarious and oh-so-cute baby girl. Now, Kelly devotes her days to caring for her own little ones…and would not trade this new job of hers for the world! In her not-so-spare time, Kelly loves meeting up with her girlfriends for margaritas, failing miserably at Pinterest projects, and exploring this big old city with her two favorite little side-kicks in tow.
