My Real-Life Mommy Makeover

We are honored to be partnering with Yarish Plastic Surgery to bring you this sponsored post. If you've been considering a Mommy Makeover, we hope this real life testimonial will be helpful and provide insight for you too!

I am a mom.  A mom to FOUR kids.  A realtor turned stay at home mom with a loving husband who I have been with for eight years.

All of the above bring me such great happiness.  My body, though, was a constant struggle of mine.  I gained a ton of weight during my four pregnancies, with each one a little bit higher on the scale than the last.  My body was stretched beyond what diet and exercise could repair.  I had stretch marks, loose skin, drooping breasts.  I constantly felt down about it … so I decided to do something about it. And now, I have I zero regrets about my mommy makeover, and I’m here to share my real-life testimonial today.

The Preparation

You see, once a person makes the decision to seek some type of surgical intervention, the hardest part is finding the right surgeon.  This is not something that I took lightly. I started by using word of mouth and asking around, and my mom is actually the one who recommended Dr. R. Scott Yarish.  She mentioned he was from my hometown of Lake Jackson and now had a thriving practice in Houston.  She said he had a reputable bedside manner in addition to being a great surgeon.

At my initial consultation with Dr. Yarish, I knew immediately that I would choosing him as my plastic surgeon.  His bedside manner was indeed fantastic. He didn’t rush me.  He was vastly knowledgeable about the whole body and made me feel comfortable in asking questions.  Dr. Yarish and his entire staff put me at ease during the entire appointment and beyond.

As for the preparation, that part was super easy.  Dr. Yarish and his staff made it all seamless and made sure everything was scheduled and handled for me.  At home, I just made sure my kids had meals, house was cleaned, laundry was done, and arranged for my husband or my mom to be with me and the kids 24/7 for two weeks post-surgery.

The Surgery

But I’ll be honest… I was still very scared to have surgery.  The morning of the procedure, I woke thinking, “What the heck did I sign up for?”  At the same time, though, I was really excited about and looking forward to the results.  I had a complete Mommy Makeover which consisted of a breast lift and augmentation, a tummy tuck, and liposuction.  The entire surgery took four hours.

Much to my surprise, the recovery wasn’t that bad.  I had three c-sections prior to my tummy tuck with Dr. Yarish, and the tummy tuck actually hurt less than my c-sections.  The pain from the breast augmentation, although more than with my tummy tuck, was still not that terrible either.  I did not have any complications, and much like everything else leading up to the surgery, my recovery went really smoothly. I did not stay in the hospital over night.  Instead, Dr. Yarish arranged for me to stay at a hotel next to the surgical center in a suite with a 24/7 nurse, so that I was close by, but also comfortable and well taken care of.  In the morning I returned to Dr. Yarish’s office for my post-op appointment. After a thorough examination he released me and I was able to return home.

The Results

The best part of having surgery is being able to wear all the clothes that I never thought I could wear again. My mommy makover also gave me the boost I needed to get up and get back into the gym.  It was the kickstart I needed to regain and take control of my health again. Surgery doesn’t fix everything, and it isn’t for everyone.  But for me, it was a great starting point. I am healthier than I have been in a long time. I feel more confident in my own skin now — gone are  the days of struggling with a poor self-esteem.  See for yourself.  Here are my before and after pictures…

The photographs on the left both depict breasts that are lower. The photographs in the middle and on the right both depict breasts that are higher.

The worst part of the entire process was the anticipation of it.  I would overthink every little detail, and that was certainly exhausting.  Insurance did not cover any part of my surgery, but Dr. Yarish and staff worked out a payment plan that I paid out over time.

So now that my surgery is complete and I am loving the results, what words of advice would I offer other moms who are considering a Mommy Makeover as well?  I’m so glad you asked…
