Has your family experience separation? If so, you can share your experience and make $100 plus gain information that might prove helpful for you or your children during this time.
Our sponsors at University of Houston are currently conducting a research study on families experiencing separation. Whether the separation is due to the demands of a parent’s work schedule or to marital discord, periods of separation can be stressful for families. The Sleep and Anxiety Center at the University of Houston is partnering with the Department of Defense to better understand how these periods of separation affect children and families. The goal of the project is to design intervention and prevention programs to help families experiencing separation. This study is part of a larger project that also includes military families coping with deployment. Below are the details.
Who ::
Families with children between the ages of 7 and 17 who either…
- have a parent who has to travel for work or has to otherwise be away from the family for periods of time
-or-
- have recently experienced separation or divorce.
What ::
Only one in-person visit is required to participate. For families with a parent who travels for work, one parent and one child will participate during a time when the other parent is away from home.
When ::
For participation, all participants will receive…
- A comprehensive evaluation of your child
- Feedback about your child’s functioning
- $100 compensation for completion of the study
- Opportunity to provide valuable information that will serve and help other families living with similar situations.
The study is looking for families with a range of experiences. Both those who are having difficulty coping with separation and those who are not having difficulty are encouraged to participate.
