Start NOW for Some Mother’s Day Fun in Houston!

In 2009, I was literally drowning in the waves of infertility {no pun intended, I promise!}, trying to have a baby through numerous fertility treatments, wondering if it was EVER going to happen.  Although I was privileged to be raising my two elementary-aged kids God had blessed me with through marriage, I WANTED MORE.  I wanted a baby…or two or three.  The ache was bad and so many people were praying desperately for us.  Mother’s Day was the HARDEST day of the year.  I needed an escape from that day in particular.  An escape where I didn’t have to hide my tears at church amongst the most well-meaning, loving people in the world.  An escape that would allow me let it all out…MIND-BODY-SOUL.  And guess what?  I found one…right here in H-town!  And I wanted YOU {mom, mom-to-be, sister, aunt, grandma, friend} to know about it.  It’s just too fun to miss out on!  Your entire family can come out and cheer you on!

TRI GIRL MOTHER’S DAY SUPER SPRINT TRIATHLON

Mother’s Day :: May 11, 2014

Swim 200yds, Bike 8 miles, Run 2 miles

A super sprint triathlon is a short-distance triathlon, ideal for those who are newbies to the sport!  It is very MUCH a beginner triathlon.  You will see EVERY level represented!

You’ll start with the open water swim in Lake Houston, transition to the bike-ride through a beautiful wooded area, and then run through Alexander Deussen Park to the finish line!  Not up for the entire race?  Divide and conquer by forming a team of three with your mom, daughters, sisters, friends {my mom, sister, and I were a team the year I was preggo!} OR compete in the Duathlon {run/bike/run}.  You DO NOT have to be an expert in any of the events, but you DO need to be confident and sure that this is for you.  You also DO NOT have to have fancy equipment…I used my mountain bike the first year, and every year since then, I have borrowed my son’s road bike.  You can see the list of frequently asked questions on the TRI GIRL SPORTS website for more info, and you can also join the TRI GIRL SPORTS Facebook page and get helpful information there, too.

This will be my 5th year to participate in this SUPER FUN, Super Sprint Triathlon, and like every year…I AM LOOKING SO FORWARD TO IT!  It’s not too late to sign up before the price goes up on March 25th, and you are JUST IN TIME to start training!  Google “Beginner Training Plans for a Sprint Tri” like this one and get to work!  I will tell you this…it is NOT easy {at least not for me!}, but such a great way to challenge yourself!  From the beginning, feelings of anticipation, excitement, and nervousness to completing the race knowing that YOU DID IT…you’ll run through the entire gamut of emotions from start to finish!  I hope you’ll think about joining LOTS of Houston-area women this Mother’s Day 2014.  It’s a memory-maker FOR SURE!

{In case you need some added encouragement…the pictures above are from the past two years.  In the pink top I was 3 months pregnant, and in the black top I had given birth to my baby girl just 5 months prior.  I was not the fastest or best in ANY way, shape, or fashion!  But I HAD A BLAST!  Why else would I continue to sign up year after year???  Just do it.}
