Can Video Games Can Be Educational? {+ Giveaway}

The answer is YES, and our sponsors at Super League Gaming are here to tell us how! As of you might remember, we introduced you to Super League Gaming this summer, and we couldn’t be more excited to announce that they are back, right here in Houston, for the season.  PLUS, they are giving away season passes to one lucky family, so keep reading and enter to win below!

Super League is the first in-theater gaming league set inside major movie theaters across the country where gamers can socialize, move around the theater, and compete in a recreational setting. Super League’s after-school enrichment program leverages Minecraft on a BIG screen for a social, fun, and interactive learning experience. Their 6-week, after-school leagues starts this month, and with Minecraft being consider “brain-food” for kids, we think it is a pretty great afternoon activity for the kids and teens of the Houston area.

Minecraft is already well known for its educational value, but Super League takes it one step further by assigning participants to teams of 4-7 where they work together towards a common goal. With the help of Super League Gaming, kids will learn key principals of teamwork, leadership, communication, strategy, design, creativity, and much more.  The best part?  The kids will love it!

For those not already familiar with the game, Minecraft is a clever, award-winning game made for and played by people of all ages — millions of people of all ages.  The purpose of the game is simply to build and explore {and survive}.  With this and through this, Minecraft helps promote sciences — biology, ecology, chemistry, physics, geology, and geography — all in one game.   It makes learning science fun for our younger generations, and schools across the world are starting to recognize the teaching potential that Minecraft can offer by working it into the curriculum.
