While the holidays have come and gone here in Houston, Houston Moms Blog isn’t ready to let go of this magical toy season for children just yet.  We know Houston summers often have us indoors to avoid melting in the blazing sun, but this winter has seemed particularly cold and wet, keeping us indoors yet again.  So when temperatures warmed up, we surprised Wyatt with the Joybay Swing Car from Toy Beyond which was oh so kindly given to us for review. I was not shocked at all when he immediately said that it looks like a helicopter, and indeed, I have to agree. This fact alone makes it a bit of a perfect fit for our helicopter loving family.

Toy Beyond introduces these Swing Cars as “fun for all ages,” and while our ten-month-old couldn’t wait to get his hands on it while my husband put it together, it’s obviously crafted for toddlers and older. At age three, Wyatt is on the younger side. He can certainly power the Swing Car as he moves the steering wheel from left to right to get the wheels rolling, but I think it will be a toy that grows with him as he gets stronger and stronger. It’s also best on a flat surface as an incline creates another level of difficulty.

As a parent, I love that it exercises his upper body muscles in new ways and enhances coordination while he’s having fun outside.  When he’s tired of swinging it back and forth, he uses his feet to push forward and backward like a toddler car. The good news is that this car is big enough that his knees aren’t bent too far to be effective.

And guess what all of that exercise is doing? Burning energy!

This kid-powered “helicopter car” as we call it around here is great for expending all of that seemingly endless kid energy. I would love for our neighbors to get one also for the kids to race up and down the cul-de-sac. It’s definitely a toy to enjoy with friends!

My husband was impressed with the quality of the materials, particularly the wheels which appear much more durable than similar outdoor vehicles. He very easily put it together and is also impressed with Toy Beyond’s lifetime warranty which will replace any part that breaks.

I love that my little aviator can imagine being a pilot while powering this car as he steers back and forth, and I love the affordability that Toy Beyond offers with the Joybay Swing Car as well as other products that encourage imagination and play.
