A Houston Moms Guide to March 2020

We are thankful for our partnership with Reliant Energy on our monthly guide. All thoughts and opinions are our own.

::IMPORTANT UPDATE:: Many events have been cancelled due to the coronavirus. Please check and double check before you plan on attending any of these events. For example, Rodeo Houston has been cancelled starting March 11th.

It’s Rodeo season in Houston! This is our favorite month of the year because the Rodeo offers so much family fun for us all. Whether you are going to one of the concerts, watching the rodeo, watching the animal birthing center, or eating something yummy, the rodeo is a great time for the whole family.

Reliant Energy is a big part of the comprehensively awesome experience of the rodeo with their really cool interactive displays. New this year, Reliant has created a larger-than-life, interactive photo mosaic to celebrate their shared commitment to local youth with the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. The Rodeo has reached the historic benchmark of $500 million to support education since 1932, and Reliant’s photo mosaic will showcase that as it gradually comes to life with photos from Twitter and Instagram that feature the hashtag #RodeoHouston500M. Every time a rodeo-goer shares a photo with the hashtag, Reliant will donate $5 to the Rodeo’s Educational Fund, up to $60,000 total, and their photo will be printed on a polaroid picture for them to keep. The mosaic will be located in NRG Center at Hall C. Recharge your phones on one of Reliant’s phone charging stations located all over NRG Park.

Back this year is Reliant’s Big Boot, sized nearly 25-feet tall near the Champion Wine Garden. Their Texas-themed flower wall featuring the beloved state flower, the bluebonnet, molded in the shape of Texas and surrounded by an authentic western hat display.

Reliant is offering a really great Rodeo deal for their customers as well. Customers who make the switch to the Reliant Rodeo plan get a $100 Cavender’s gift card to use toward their favorite western wear. And of course, they’ll also wrangle a low price on electricity. With Reliant’s new text to enroll option, Rodeo visitors can receive a simple text with plan details and conveniently enroll from their phone.
